β¨ Well, Iβve never celebrated an anniversary at one company before. Either I was planning to leave or had already left in less than a year. If you take a look at my LinkedIn profile, you’ll notice that Iβve changed jobs 5 times between 2020 and 2024. π The reasons varied, but some key factors were always important to me: learning rate, team/company culture (transparency),salary, and managers. I ask myself regularly: Am I learning every day and learning fast? If I stay, what will I be like in 1 year?
π₯ Today is my one-year at NOW. I am still enjoying my every day at work and satisfied with what I am doing at the moment. So, what makes NOW different?
π± Some of the best things about NOW:
π‘ An amazing team leader from whom Iβve learned so much leadership.
π€ A super supportive team and colleagues who are always willing to help and from whom I can learn various things.
π€ Trust is key. No micromanagement, no being treated like a child.
π― Freedom to explore ideas and make initiatives.
π» A modern data tech stack thatβs cloud-native and data-driven.
π Highlights of the year:
π Took over the responsibility of Data Science AG (Workgroup), built structure, and enabled more effective exchanges around data topics. π Initiated the first AWS Certification Sprint for 22 colleagues and secured 100% Quantum Leap training funds from AWS for courses and exam vouchers. π Initiated and Participated in Women+ in Data and AI event with my 7 colleagues.
π» Technical achievements:
π§ Refactored and optimized some complex data ETL pipelines to ensure application working.
π Restructured the cloud infrastructure management process to enhance security and transparency.
π οΈ Contributed to building the Data Warehouse with AWS infrastructure expertise.
π₯οΈ Active contribution to AWS SysOps.
π My learnings:
π± Lifelong learning is essential.
π Be kind to your colleagues.
πͺ Negotiate confidently like a man.
π‘ Soft skills are even more important than technical skills.
π Be visible and take ownership.
π NOW is in a transition phase. Every challenge comes new opportunities. I am looking forward to spending more time with an even better NOW πͺβ¨
